CityNeighborhoods & Co.

The CityNeighborhoods Project consists of a company of websites centered on the principle of sustained attention to place. CityNeighborhoods.World extends that philosophy across cities, countries, landmarks, landscapes, and cultural sites beyond New York and Paris, using photography, history, geography, field observation, and comparative exploration to discover connections among places. Rather than pursuing identical depth everywhere, Worldwide follows the character of each encounter while building a broader record of the patterns, differences, and recurring themes that shape lived environments around the world.

The Websites

CityNeighborhoods.NYC

The original and most comprehensive CityNeighborhoods project, documenting New York City neighborhood by neighborhood through photography, history, geography, maps, and continued firsthand exploration. Having photographed all of the city’s neighborhoods, CityNeighborhoods.NYC serves as both a living portrait of New York and an evolving archive of its streets, communities, landmarks, infrastructure, and constant change.

CityNeighborhoods.Paris

An independent, city-focused project documenting Paris through multiple geographic and cultural layers, including its arrondissements, quartiers administratifs, neighborhood councils, riverbanks, and cultural neighborhoods. CityNeighborhoods.Paris combines original photography, mapping, history, and field exploration to examine not only individual places, but the different systems through which Paris can be understood. It is a separate root-domain website and is not contained within CityNeighborhoods.World.

CityNeighborhoods.World

The international and comparative branch of the CityNeighborhoods Project, documenting cities, sites, countries, and recurring themes across places beyond New York and Paris. Rather than attempting the same comprehensive treatment of every destination, CityNeighborhoods.World follows what each place offers through photography, field observation, history, and comparative essays, using Connections and Worldwide Chronicles to explore patterns that recur across different cultures and landscapes.

CityNeighborhoods.Photos

The international and comparative branch of the CityNeighborhoods Project, documenting cities, sites, countries, and recurring themes across places beyond New York and Paris. Rather than attempting the same comprehensive treatment of every destination, CityNeighborhoods.World follows what each place offers through photography, field observation, history, and comparative essays, using Connections and Worldwide Chronicles to explore patterns that recur across different cultures and landscapes.

CityNeighborhoods.NYC, CityNeighborhoods.Paris, and CityNeighborhoods.World are sibling projects within CityNeighborhoods & Co. Each is an independent website with its own domain, structure, geographic scope, and editorial purpose. CityNeighborhooods.Photos is the immersive archive of over 100,000 photos that serves as the foundation of the project.
